Mary
Deveneau’s fascination with psychic phenomena began 35 years ago when she
picked up an Edgar Cayce book at a yard sale. Before reading Cayce, she
assumed everyone knew the things she knew.
When
her friends kept telling her she had ESP, Mary soon realized that psychic
ability was a gift not everyone used. After reading Cayce, she was hooked
on anything metaphysical. She read every self-help and metaphysical book to
read, and took every class or workshop available to her.
Shamanism
became an important part of Mary’s life when she had two years of formal
training with Spirit Passages Shaman’s, C. Allie Knowlton, MSW, LCSW, LCSW
and Evelyn C. Rysdyk, teacher of Shamanism and Shamanic Healer, Sacred Artist
and author of Modern
Shamanic Living.
Over
the last 10 years, Mary has participated in many Native American healing
ceremonies, and studied with Native American Elders from four different
tribes. Mary now writes her own ceremonies based on Celtic Shamanism.
Mary
is a dual citizen of Ireland, her family’s homeland. She leads Spiritual
Adventure
Tours
to her home country every year during Summer Solstice. Ireland is her magical
playground, exploring the sacred sites of her ancestral land, along with
Celtic traditions, while enjoying her family who live in
County
Clare
.
Mary
is a healer, with training in shamanic healing, past life regressions,
aromatherapy, Reiki, Spiritual Response Therapy, Jin Shin Jyutsu, dowsing,
Feng Shui, and psychometry. Mary not only has taken many workshops on
intuition and psychic ability, she teaches them as well.
In
1991, Mary opened Light of the Moon, a metaphysical bookstore in
Portland
,
Maine
. Mary wanted to share knowledge with the seekers who sought out her
successful store, while at the same time having access to all the books and
healing tools she loves. Mary also offered psychic readings daily in the
store.
Having served as a resource for nine years, Mary was led by her guides to
close the store and make herself available for psychic readings full time. She
spent the next two years clearing her energy to refine her connection to
Spirit and to develop a powerful system of reading that is healing and
empowering to both clients and to Mary, herself.
When reading a client one day, a guide came through named
Robert. He described himself as a man of 6 feet, heavy build with dark curly
hair. He said he was a business man who never spent much time with his children.
He was sorry for this, as he realizes what a mistake this was to have missed the
most important part of his life. He wanted to tell his daughter how much he
loved her and how proud he was of her. His daughter cried and said how much she
missed him and how she never knew if he really loved her. Months later she said
how this had helped to heal her grief.
Since that time, Mary has done lots of medium work with
clients to help them with their grief. In 2003, she took a workshop with the
author and medium, John Edward in New York. John gave her the confidence and
knowledge to continue helping people through their process of grief and healing.
This is some of Mary's favorite work.
Mary
reads for people all over the world by phone. She travels throughout the
country to offer workshops and readings, and has now expanded to tours and
workshops in
New Zealand
and
Ireland
.
Mary
lives on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Townsend, Washington with her husband,
Michael. Mary and Michael spend their spare time skiing, kayaking, hiking, and
camping in the mountains.
